Overseas travellers aged 21 years and over are able to hire cars on presentation of a passport and a valid driving licence. A valid international insurance policy is also necessary although this can be arranged by the car hire company when the car is collected.
Cars can be rented at major airports, and in larger cities. When renting a car inquire if the price includes unlimited mileage, collision damage and third party insurance and tax. In Spain there is a tax on car hire of 15% that is usually not included in the quoted price.
In the busy season you should book a car well in advance. When driving a rental car keep all rental documents and identification papers with you.
