Barcelona's
airport is 12km (7.5 miles) southwest of the city centre at El Prat
de Llobregat. The airport has three terminals and caters for international
and domestic flights, including long-haul flights from North America.
Terminal A:
international arrivals / exits non Spanish airlines
Terminal B-C: arrivals countries UE / exits Spanish airlines
Facilities
Terminals A
and B have banks and bureaux de change and there are bars and restaurants
in all three terminals. Duty free shopping is available to travellers
and there is a 24 hour medical service in the Bloque Técnico
building. Major car rental companies have desks in the airport.
Having been renovated for the Olympic Games in 1992, the airport
is well appointed for travellers with disabilities.

Getting
to and from El Prat Airport and Barcelona City
Train
The Rodalies
(Cercanías) train line 1 runs between the airport (Zone 4)
and centre of town (Zone 1). Trains run daily every 30 minutes from
6:13am to 11:15pm. Travel time to Estació Sants is 17 minutes,
and to Catalunya station 23 minutes. Regular Barcelona metro tickets
can be used on these trains.
Bus
The A1 Aerobús
(Airbus) service runs from the airport to Plaça de Catalunya
via Plaça d'Espanya. Departures every 30 minutes and travel
time is around 1 hour.
Suburban buses
EA and EN leave every 90 minutes for Plaça d'Espanya and
travel time is around 50 minutes.
Taxi
There is generally no shortage of taxis available to/from the centre.
Car
Driving to the city from the airport takes around 20-30 minutes
via the Casteldefels Road to the Playa of Espanya. The road is motorway
or dual carriageway most of the way. Be prepared for lengthy delays
during rush hour.
Other
airports in Catalunya
There are two
other airports in Catalunya that receive international flights:
Girona and Reus which serve charter flights. Train connections from
the city of Girona to Barcelona are frequent, and you can hire cars
at Reus.
