Information - Travel Insurance
As always travelling,
wherever you're going to, a Travel Insurance is always a good prevention
to protect yourself against four types of problems: medical or health
problems, property loss, trip cancellation or interruption, and
emergency evacuation. Also making photocopies of the important pages
of your passport, and other important documents is recommendable.
Check your existing
insurance policies before you buy a Travel Insurance to cover trip
cancellation, lost luggage, medical expenses, or car rental insurance.
You're likely to have partial or complete coverage. Ask your travel
agent about a comprehensive package, whether you need some specific
coverage. The cost of travel insurance varies widely, depending
on the length of your trip, your age and health, and the type of
trip you're taking. When you buy Travel Insurance also check that
there is a 24 hour contact number that is reachable from the country
you are going to.
Medical
Insurance
Before you buy
a Health Insurance check your existing level of cover with your
insurance company. Often medical insurance covers medical costs
incurred abroad though you may need to get extra cover if you intend
to undertake "risky" activities like water skiing or sailing.
Most health insurance policies cover you if you get sick away from
home, but check particularly if you're insured by an HMO. With the
exception of certain HMOs and Medicare/Medicaid, your medical insurance
should cover medical treatment and hospital care overseas. Also,
check to see if your medical insurance covers you for emergency
medical evacuation. If you have to buy a one-way same-day ticket
home and forfeit your non refundable round-trip ticket, you may
be out big money.
