Barcelona - Tourist
Information -
Health, Hospitals and Pharmacies
For emergency
care, we advise to go to the nearest public hospital where there
will be an emergency department. There is a national emergency telephone
number for ambulance services 112, and another number for
emergency medical assistance 061. Unless one is familiar
with the Spanish language, calling these numbers may pose a problem.
University hospitals
are typically the best equipped and there it can be easier to find
doctors and other personnel who speak English.
HTH Worldwide's
CityHealth Profiles provide lists of notable hospitals in selected
Spanish cities. You can visit the HTH
Worldwide website for more information about the HTH Worldwide's
Provider Search Tool which provides access to HTH Worldwide's international
community of carefully selected English-speaking doctors in various
specialties.
Americans can
also contact the American Consulate in Barcelona to obtain a list
of English-speaking doctors and dentist, and of hospitals used in
the past by Americans.
